eToro licence numbers
eToro's UK licence number is FCA 583263, held by eToro (UK) Limited and authorised since 9 May 2013. Its EU number is CySEC 109/10 and Australia is AFSL 491139. Those three cover three markets. Everyone else contracts with a Seychelles company that carries no compensation scheme at all, and that is the number eToro does not put in the footer.
The numbers, by market
| Where you sign up | Company | Licence | If it fails |
|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | eToro (UK) Limited | FCA 583263, Authorised 9 May 2013 | FSCS, £85,000 |
| European Union | eToro (Europe) Ltd | CySEC 109/10 | ICF, 90% to €20,000 |
| Australia | eToro AUS Capital Limited | AFSL 491139 | None for derivatives |
| Everywhere else | eToro (Seychelles) Ltd | Seychelles FSA | Nothing |
Parent: eToro Group Ltd, listed on Nasdaq as ETOR since 14 May 2025, which means audited accounts and disclosed legal risk rather than self-reported figures.
The UK entity holds your money
The FCA register records that eToro (UK) Limited can hold and can control client money, Companies House number 07973792. That is the permission that puts UK clients inside the FSCS at £85,000, and it is not a given: Interactive Brokers discloses that a UK account is cleared and carried by its US entity instead.
The firm declares three names on the licence: eToro and eToro UK as trading names from 27 July 2021, and ETORO (UK) LIMITED as the registered name from 9 May 2013.
Five clone firm warnings, one of them recent
The register entry for FRN 583263 lists five operations using eToro's details to look authorised:
- Bitcoin FX Option, added 15 January 2019
- Etoro SB Limited, added 26 May 2022
- Expotoro / Tratoro / PayBack Toro, added 20 June 2023
- AI-Arbitrage, added 8 August 2025
- Finvoire, added 5 March 2026
A clone warning says nothing about eToro itself. It is here because the realistic risk to a new client is depositing with an impersonator, and because the FCA publishes the warnings on the same page as the genuine number. Checking the register catches both at once.
The Seychelles entity is the default, not the exception
eToro has three licensed markets. Every client outside the UK, the EEA and Australia is onboarded to eToro (Seychelles) Ltd, which holds a Seychelles Financial Services Authority licence and carries no compensation scheme, no ombudsman a retail client can escalate to, and a capital regime far below the Cypriot or British one.
This is disclosed in the client agreement rather than advertised. It is also the single most consequential thing on this page for a reader outside those three markets: the brand is identical, the platform is identical, and what happens if the firm fails is not.
Our guide on compensation schemes sets out what each of these actually pays and why the €20,000 European ceiling catches people out.
What the CySEC register adds
Read at source, eToro (Europe) Ltd's CySEC entry lists a single approved domain. That is narrower than most of its peers, several of which list three or more. It is a small thing, and it is the sort of thing worth knowing how to check: if you arrive at a domain that is not on the register, you are not dealing with the licensed entity.
Check it yourself
Search 583263 on register.fca.org.uk and 109/10 on the CySEC register. Expand the trading names table on the FCA entry and read the clone warnings section, which sits on the same page. For the entity that applies to you, read the client agreement rather than the footer. Our guide covers the method.
