eToro fees and spreads

eToro's fee structure is not expensive so much as it is unusual, and the unusual part is what it will not tell you before you sign up. Re-checked against eToro's own fees page on 9 September 2026.

Commission

  • Stocks: $1 or $2 when opening and closing a position, depending on your country of residence and the exchange. The blanket "zero commission stocks" claim is out of date, and eToro's own fees page is the source for that.
  • ETFs: no commission, no spread fee, no custody fee, no overnight fee.
  • Stock margin: 0.15% of trade value, with overnight financing charged on the borrowed amount only.
  • Stock and ETF CFDs: 0.15% per trade.
  • Crypto CFDs: 1% per trade.
  • UK stocks: Stamp Duty Reserve Tax of 0.5% applies on purchases, which is a tax rather than an eToro charge.

Crypto, which is tiered

Manual crypto trades are priced by Club level and monthly volume: 1.00% flat for Bronze, Silver and Gold, falling to as low as 0.10% at the top of the Platinum, Platinum+ and Diamond tiers. Selling crypto runs 0.6% to 1% by tier. Transferring a cryptoasset out costs 2%.

That 2% transfer fee is the one to notice if you intend to move coins to your own wallet rather than sell them on the platform.

Currency conversion, and why there is no number here

eToro denominates accounts in USD. If your money is in pounds or euros you convert on the way in and again on the way out, and pay it twice. For most UK and European clients this is the largest recurring cost of using the platform.

eToro does not publish a rate for it. Its fees page states only that conversion rates vary by location and payment method, with discounts by Club tier, and gives no figure for any country. We are not going to fill that gap with a number from a comparison site, because we cannot check it at the source and neither can you.

What that means in practice: the biggest cost on this account cannot be compared against another broker from anything eToro publishes. Ask for the rate that applies to your country and your payment method in writing before you fund the account.

Overnight financing

  • Charged on CFD positions held overnight, with a triple charge over the weekend.
  • Not charged on non-leveraged stock and ETF positions, or on crypto.
  • On stock margin, charged on the borrowed amount rather than the whole position.

Withdrawals and inactivity

  • Withdrawal: free from a GBP, EUR or DKK account; $5 from a USD account, which eToro says covers international transfer costs.
  • Minimum withdrawal: $30 from USD, none from a local currency account.
  • Inactivity: free. The long-standing figure was $10 a month after twelve months. eToro publishes no note dating the change, so the current position is accurate and the effective date is unknown. An older review quoting $10 a month is out of date.
  • Account opening, management and custody: free.

Minimum deposit

Between $10 and $10,000 on a first deposit depending on country, at least $50 after that, and $500 minimum by wire transfer. Unverified accounts are capped at $2,250 in total deposits.

The comparison worth making

Capital.com publishes its full schedule: a stated spread per instrument, a stated overnight rate, a stated conversion percentage, and terms committing it to no inactivity, deposit or withdrawal fee. eToro publishes most of its schedule and leaves the largest variable cost undisclosed. Neither is expensive by industry standards; only one of them can be checked.
