CIFMarkets licence numbers
CIFMarkets leads with FSCA FSP 54857, a South African licence held by Aclive Wealth Advisory (Pty) Ltd. Page one of its own terms says that company is not the product issuer and acts only as an intermediary. The firm that actually issues the contracts is named further down: Intrepot Investments Ltd, a Comoros company on a MISA licence, registered at Bonovo Road, Fomboni. The South African number belongs to the introducer. The counterparty is somewhere else entirely.
What CIFMarkets publishes on the site
From the legal notice at the foot of cifmarkets.com, read on 24 September 2026 and repeated word for word in the Spanish version:
| Operating entity | Aclive Wealth Advisory (Pty) Ltd |
| South African company number | 2022/427817/07 |
| Licence quoted | FSCA FSP 54857 |
| Registered office | 1 Hood Avenue, Rosebank, Johannesburg, Gauteng, 2196 |
| Paying agent, United Kingdom | Aclive Advisory (UK) Ltd, company 17048005, Aston House, Cornwall Avenue, London N3 1LF |
| Paying agent, Cyprus | Aclive Advisory (CY) Ltd, company HE494365, Chrysanthou Mylona 1, Panayides Building, Limassol 3030 |
The site says Aclive Wealth Advisory "is licensed and regulated by the FSCA (Financial Sector Conduct Authority) with an FSP license number 54857", and immediately adds that it "is not the market maker, or product issuer, and acts solely as an intermediary between the client and the product supplier". The website never says who the product supplier is.
The terms name it
The July 2026 terms and conditions, version 1.2, run to 78 pages as a PDF on the legal documents page. Two passages matter more than the rest of the document combined.
The introduction states that the product supplier "is Intrepot Ltd, found at www.intrepot.com". The definitions section is more specific. It defines the product supplier as Intrepot Investments Ltd, a company registered in Comoros Union with registration number HV00126489 and regulated by MISA (Mwali International Services Authority) with a license number BFX2025155, registered office at Bonovo Road, Fomboni, Island of Moheli.
The intrepot.com footer confirms it in the same words, so this is not a drafting leftover from another broker's template. It is the live arrangement.
Why that changes the answer to the licence question
South Africa licenses advice and intermediary services under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, and that is what an FSP number records. Issuing or writing a CFD as principal falls under the Financial Markets Act and needs approval as an OTC Derivative Provider. Our guide sets out the split and the penalties.
On CIFMarkets' own account, Aclive Wealth Advisory is not issuing anything, so the FSP licence is arguably the right licence for what it says it does. That is precisely the problem. The number on the front of the site describes the introducer, not the firm holding your position. We read the FSCA's Over The Counter Derivative Providers register in full on 24 September 2026. It holds 95 entries, of which 47 carry the status Approved, and neither Aclive Wealth Advisory nor Intrepot appears on it in any status. So nothing in this chain is authorised to be a South African client's CFD counterparty.
Where the money actually ends up
Follow the entities in order and the shape is clear. You are introduced by a South African company with an FSP number. Your deposit is taken by a paying agent in London or Limassol, neither described as regulated. Your contract is issued by a Comoros company on a MISA licence, at Bonovo Road, Fomboni.
Bonovo Road is the address that NXG Markets and six other brokers in our database give as their registered office. It is a registered-agent address rather than a building anyone works in. Mwali International Services Authority operates no compensation scheme, no client-money rulebook comparable to a European or Australian one, and no practical enforcement reach over a firm taking deposits from abroad. We set out what a MISA licence is and is not in a separate guide, and what having no scheme means in practice in another.
One more detail worth noticing. The same contract calls the supplier "Intrepot Ltd" in the introduction and "Intrepot Investments Ltd" in the definitions. Those are two different company names. A contract that cannot hold its counterparty's name steady across seventy-eight pages is not a document you want to be relying on when a withdrawal is refused.
What the two paying agents change
Aclive Advisory (UK) Ltd and Aclive Advisory (CY) Ltd are named as paying agents, which means deposits may leave you in London or Limassol. Neither is described as regulated, and a paying agent is an administrative role rather than an authorisation. A UK company number is not FCA authorisation, and a Cyprus HE number is not a CySEC licence. We cover this pattern in detail, because a European company number in a footer is one of the cheapest trust signals a broker can buy.
How to check this yourself
Open the FSCA entity search, choose the OTC Derivative Providers tab, and search the legal entity name rather than the brand. Then open the broker's terms and conditions and use the find function for the words "product supplier", "issuer" and "counterparty". On a broker that is your counterparty, those words point back at the company whose licence number is in the footer. On CIFMarkets they point somewhere else. Our step by step guide covers the register side.
Frequently asked questions
What is CIFMarkets' licence number?
CIFMarkets publishes FSCA FSP licence number 54857, held by Aclive Wealth Advisory (Pty) Ltd, South African company number 2022/427817/07, at 1 Hood Avenue, Rosebank, Johannesburg. Its terms name a second licence behind the trading itself: MISA BFX2025155, held by Intrepot Investments Ltd in the Comoros.
Is CIFMarkets regulated by the FSCA?
Aclive Wealth Advisory holds an FSCA FSP number, which covers advice and intermediary services. It is not on the FSCA's OTC Derivative Provider register, which we read in full on 24 September 2026, so it is not authorised to issue CFDs as principal. Its own terms say it does not issue them.
Who is the counterparty when you trade with CIFMarkets?
The terms and conditions name the product supplier as Intrepot Investments Ltd, a Comoros company with registration number HV00126489 holding MISA licence BFX2025155, registered at Bonovo Road, Fomboni, Island of Moheli. That is the firm on the other side of your positions, not the South African entity whose licence number appears on the website.
