tastyfx Review 2026: IG’s US Arm, and the One Tenth That Keeps It Out of Trusted

tastyfx is IG Group's American forex business, rebranded from IG US on 24 June 2024, and we rate it Neutral at 7.4 out of 10, one tenth below our Trusted band. It holds the strongest capital position of the four registered US retail forex dealers, $67.4m against a $22.0m requirement, and publishes the clearest pricing in the market with a zero minimum deposit. What keeps it out of Trusted is the American regime rather than the firm: retail forex funds are not segregated and there is no compensation scheme.

tastyfx scores 7.4, which is one tenth of a point below our Trusted band. Nothing the firm has
done keeps it there. What keeps it there is the country it operates in, and that distinction is the
whole review.

You are trading with IG, under a different name and different rules

This is the thing to understand before anything else, because a lot of people arrive at tastyfx
having read about IG.

IG Group completed its acquisition of tastytrade on 28 June 2021. On
24 June 2024 it rebranded its American foreign exchange business, then trading as
IG US, to tastyfx. The brand sits under IG US Holdings, Inc., which trades as IG
North America and is a subsidiary of IG Group Holdings plc, listed in London.

We rate IG 8.3 and Trusted, the highest score on this site. A reader who finds
that review, decides IG is the safe choice and then opens an account from the United States does not
get the company in that review. They get tastyfx LLC, a separate American entity, under American
rules.

Here is what changes at the border:

IG in the UK tastyfx in the US
Entity IG Markets Limited and IG Index Limited tastyfx LLC
Regulator FCA CFTC and NFA
Client money Held and controlled under FCA client asset rules Not segregated. NFA rules forbid a dealer from saying otherwise
If the firm fails FSCS, up to 85,000 pounds No compensation scheme
Maximum leverage 30:1 on majors 50:1 on majors
What you can trade Forex, indices, shares, commodities Forex only

None of that is a criticism of tastyfx. It is the American regime, and it applies identically to
every firm on our USA page. But a reader who assumes the IG name
carries the IG protections across the Atlantic is wrong, and nobody tells them.

The capital position is the best of the four US dealers

Only four firms hold the Retail Foreign Exchange Dealer registration that lets them be your
counterparty in American retail forex. The CFTC publishes their financial position every month. From
the report as at 31 July 2026:

Dealer Adjusted net capital Requirement Cushion
tastyfx LLC $67,394,162 $21,997,522 about 3.06x
GAIN Capital (FOREX.com) $82,904,419 $29,706,083 about 2.79x
OANDA Corporation $33,191,483 $26,783,414 about 1.24x
Trading.com Markets $24,180,804 $20,000,000 about 1.21x

tastyfx holds the widest margin above its regulatory minimum of the four, on
$49,950,447 of customer money. For context on why that matters more here than it
would in Britain: with no compensation scheme behind you, the dealer’s own solvency is the thing
standing between you and a loss. We set that out in full on the USA page, and the contrast with
OANDA, which has the thinnest cushion and a 2020 CFTC order about exactly that, is
instructive.

One technical point that is genuinely unusual. tastyfx is registered as an RFED
only
. The other three are registered as both Futures Commission Merchants and RFEDs. In
practice that means tastyfx does retail forex and nothing else: it cannot carry your futures
business, and it states plainly that it is not an SEC-registered broker-dealer, so
the shares and options live with its sibling tastytrade rather than here. A narrower licence is not
a weaker one. It is a smaller surface.

The clearest pricing of any US forex broker

Most brokers in this market make you open an account to see what you will pay. tastyfx publishes
three accounts in full, before you deposit anything:

Account EUR/USD from Commission Minimum deposit
Standard 0.8 pips None $0
Zero+ 0.0 pips $5 per lot $0
Prime 0.6 pips None $50,000

Two things worth noticing. The minimum deposit on the first two accounts is
zero, which is the lowest barrier of any dealer in the market. And the figures are
minimums rather than averages, so “from 0.8” is doing the same work there as it does everywhere
else.

Compare that with the alternative. OANDA publishes its US commission but the
site serving most of the world contradicts itself on spreads. FOREX.com quotes “as low as 0.0 pips”
with a separate commission. tastyfx simply shows you the table. Cost and transparency both score 8.0
on the strength of this.

Platforms, and there are a lot of them

Seven ways in: the tastyfx web platform, the mobile app, MetaTrader 4,
MetaTrader 5, TradingView, ProRealTime, and a FIX API for anyone
connecting their own system.

That is a wider set than most of this market offers and it reflects the IG technology underneath.
MT4 and MT5 together matter in forex specifically, because a large amount of automated strategy code
only runs there. Platform scores 8.5, the highest pillar in this review.

What we could not check, and we are not pretending otherwise

We could not read tastyfx’s NFA BASIC record directly. BASIC’s firm search would not return
results for us, which is a limitation at our end rather than anything to do with the firm.

What we did instead: a targeted search of the CFTC’s and NFA’s own websites for any enforcement
action, order or customer reparations case naming tastyfx LLC or its former name
IG US LLC. Nothing came back. Comparable searches for OANDA and GAIN Capital
returned their orders immediately, so the method does find things when there are things to find.

That is a search result, not a register reading, and the two are not the same.
The complaints pillar scores 7.0 rather than higher for that reason. We are not going to award a
clean record we did not read, and we are not going to penalise a firm for our own inability to open
a page.

You can check it yourself in two minutes. Go to NFA BASIC, search tastyfx, and read the
Regulatory Actions column. If it says Yes, open the record rather than stopping at the summary,
because that is where the detail lives and it is exactly the step we got wrong on another broker
earlier this month.

Where this rating sits, and why it is not Trusted

Pillar Weight Score
Regulation 30% 7.5
Fund safety 25% 6.5
Cost 15% 8.0
Transparency 15% 8.0
Complaints and conduct 10% 7.0
Platform 5% 8.5
Weighted total 7.4, Neutral

Our Trusted band begins at 7.5. tastyfx lands on 7.4, which is the top of Neutral and the closest
any broker has come to the line without crossing it.

The single thing holding it there is fund safety at 6.5, and that score is almost entirely the
American regime rather than the firm. No segregation, no compensation scheme, and a rule that forbids
the dealer from claiming either. Against that, tastyfx brings the strongest capital cushion of its
four competitors and a listed parent. Those partly offset it. They do not erase it.

What would move it up: reading the NFA record and finding it clean would move
complaints to 8.5 and the total to 7.5, which is Trusted. That is a research task on our side, not
something the firm has to do.

What would move it down: any CFTC or NFA finding, a materially weaker capital
position in a later filing, or the published account table being replaced with a login wall. Our
method is set out on our methodology page.

Who it suits

An American trader who wants forex specifically, wants to see the price before depositing, and
wants the widest platform choice in the market. On those three tests it is the strongest of the six
firms legally able to take you.

It suits you less if you want shares, options or futures in the same account, because this entity
does forex and nothing else. And if you are outside the United States, this review is not the one
you want: look at IG itself, where the protections are different and considerably stronger.

Verdict changelog

12 Oct 2026 Neutral First rating. Neutral 7.4, the top of the Neutral band and one tenth below Trusted. Corporate history verified at source: IG Group completed its acquisition of tastytrade on 28 June 2021 per IG Group's own investor relations release, and IG US was rebranded to tastyfx on 24 June 2024 per the Business Wire release issued by IG US Holdings, Inc., a subsidiary of IG Group Holdings plc. Capital figures from the CFTC's Selected FCM Financial Data as at 31 July 2026: adjusted net capital $67,394,162 against a $21,997,522 requirement, a cushion of about 3.06 times, the widest of the four registered Retail Foreign Exchange Dealers, on $49,950,447 of retail forex obligation. tastyfx is registered as an RFED only, not as a Futures Commission Merchant, and states on its own site that it is not an SEC-registered broker-dealer. Pricing read from the firm's own published table: Standard from 0.8 pips with no commission and no minimum deposit, Zero+ from 0.0 pips with $5 per lot, Prime from 0.6 pips with no commission and a $50,000 minimum. Platforms read from the firm's own platforms page: tastyfx web, mobile app, MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, TradingView, ProRealTime and a FIX API. Complaints scored 7.0 rather than higher because the NFA BASIC record could not be read directly: BASIC's firm search would not return results, and a targeted search of cftc.gov and nfa.futures.org for tastyfx LLC and its former name IG US LLC returned no enforcement action or reparations case. That is recorded as a search result, not a register reading. Fund safety 6.5 reflects the American regime rather than the firm: retail forex funds are not segregated, there is no compensation scheme, and NFA Compliance Rule 2-29 forbids a member from representing otherwise.
