Is CapPlace a scam?

We rate CapPlace Scam / Avoid at 1.7 out of 10. The short version: the licence it advertises comes from a body that the Comoros central bank has publicly named as issuing licences illegally and referred to prosecutors, and Trustpilot has taken away CapPlace's rating after finding a guidelines breach and removing fake reviews.

The licence is the first thing to check, and it does not survive checking

CapPlace discloses Robertson Finance Inc., IBC HY00523519, at Bonovo Road, Fomboni, Comoros, with MISA brokerage licence T2023294.

On 10 December 2025 the Banque Centrale des Comores published a communiqué on the illegal exercise of offshore banking activities. It names the Mwali International Services Authority among the bodies issuing licences without authority, states that licensing banks and financial establishments is exclusively the central bank's remit, and records that it has referred the matter to the public prosecutors of Moroni, Mutsamudu and Mohéli. Under Article 9 of the Union Constitution and Organic Law 05-003/AU, financial regulation is a Union competence and not something an island can grant itself, and the IMF said as much about island-level offshore bodies in 2010.

This is worth being precise about, because it is stronger than the usual finding. A Seychelles or Vanuatu licence is weak. A MISA licence is not weak, it is issued by a body its own country's central bank says has no authority to issue it. There is nobody supervising CapPlace at all.

What the review record shows

40 Trustpilot reviews, 80% at one star, and the rating itself removed for a breach of Trustpilot's guidelines, with Trustpilot stating it deleted fake reviews for the company. The recurring complaint is a blocked or restricted withdrawal, followed by a request for a further deposit before funds can be released. One reviewer puts their loss at 20,360 dollars.

We have verified no individual account. The pattern is the evidence.

The strongest case against our own verdict

CapPlace does publish an entity name, a registration number and an address rather than hiding entirely, and 40 reviews is a thin sample from which to generalise. A MISA licence is also, on its own, evidence of poor judgement rather than proof of intent to defraud, and some firms hold one out of ignorance.

None of that changes the outcome, because the question a prospective client is actually asking is what happens if the money does not come back. Here the honest answer is that nothing happens. There is no supervisor to complain to, no compensation scheme, no ombudsman, and no segregation requirement. That is true regardless of anyone's intent.

Before you deposit anywhere

Look the regulator up before you look the broker up. If the licensing body is not one your own national regulator would recognise, the broker's own conduct is beside the point, because there is no mechanism to hold it to anything. Our regulator tiers set out which bodies mean what.
